The story of a photographer

Hi! My name is Katie Weihbrecht and I'm a natural light photographer, located in De Pere, WI and covering the surrounding area. I specialize in newborns, as well as families, children, maternity, and seniors. I have a home based studio for newborns and cold weather milestone sessions, but photograph primarily outdoors. I offer full and mini sessions, as well as milestone packages and gift cards!

My passion for photography started as a little girl when I developed an interest in all things art. My eye for art and attention to detail was noticed by my teachers starting in kindergarten. I began taking independent art courses in elementary school, and by middle school my parents were being told that I had potential as a career artist. Although I still love to draw and paint to this day, photography always had my heart. I can remember being a child and framing subjects with my hands to see how I'd compose an image. I was working in a darkroom by high school, and by then confidently declared that photography would be my path in life. I spent my first 3 years of college at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, and completed my Fine Arts Degree at St. Norbert College in De Pere. During my time spent there I worked in the campus darkroom, interned for an area photographer, worked part time at a local studio, and began photographing weddings and events independently.

I married my high school sweetheart before he and I even finished college, and we started our family shortly after graduation. I opened Weihbrecht Photography to allow for me to stay home with our 3 sons, and to give me the best of both worlds. I was able to continue to photograph and maintain my creative outlet, but do so around my life and family's schedule. It has been the greatest blessing being able to do so.

When not photographing, you can nearly always find me spending time with my family; whether it's at home for family pizza/game/movie nights, up north fishing and swimming, volunteering at my kids' school, or finding some new adventure to take the boys on. I live for the schedule-less days of summer, especially long sunny days at the beach. I love traveling, sleeping in late, and if I ever manage any actual "free time" you can pretty much always find me with my nose in a book. I've perfected the art of car dancing, and you can hear me busting out the lyrics to pretty much any song while editing...or while doing nearly anything. I try to enjoy life to its fullest and live for the moment, which is one of the many reasons I love being able to capture life's most special or mundane moments in a photograph. The opportunity to preserve a memory to last a lifetime is such an incredible gift. Life is constantly changing... our children are grown in the blink of an eye. Let me be the one to make each moment last a lifetime.
